Job losses, layoffs, home foreclosures—in the current economy, many of us are struggling with major changes that can leave us feeling stressed, off-balance, and questioning our identities and life goals.
This month, a PriorityMe reader writes that she needs to “rediscover her potential” following a significant job/lifestyle change.  She explains that she and her husband were recently forced to close the company they created together. While her husband has jumped full-force into his new job search, spending up to 15 hours a day searching for work, she feels “lost” and like “a loser,” uncertain about what her future holds. She describes herself as “usually a very positive person,” but her current transition has clearly shaken her sense of identity, and she questions how to reclaim her purpose in life.

A Special Mother
When it comes to moms – I feel like the lucky one.  Many of my girlfriends have real issues with their mothers.  My mama and I are friends.  My mama showed and shared her love in wonderful ways as we grew up. She modeled acceptance and understanding. My mama is one of my heroes. 

Dianne Higginbotham Kiblinger was born in Iowa, spent time in Mississippi (she still cannot say “tiger” right), and came to Ohio as a young girl.  Daddy’s princess she was – at least that is what all the photographs show – and a good girl of the 1950’s.  She met my dad on a blind date in high school and followed him to Wilmington College before heading off to nursing school. They married in 1962.  I was born in 1963.

My three siblings followed.  I remember my childhood as others my age might: family dinners; riding our bikes to the pool; neighbors as friends; parent custom parties in the basement; not having much money, but having enough. The simple life, really.
